Andrew C Wright
Andrew is the co-founder/ clinical director and senior psychotherapist for ATIC Dubai, and provides child therapy, adult psychotherapy for individuals and groups, art therapy, play therapy, verbal therapy to clients of all ages, genders and backgrounds and also an experienced international speaker and trainer.
Andrew is a British trained and UK registered Dubai Art Psychotherapist and qualified at Goldsmiths College, University of London. As well as studying art and design and psychology at Leicester University. He is UK state registered therapist and licensed with the Health Care Professions Council, UK (HCPC) and he is also a member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT). He is an approved clinical supervisor for professionals and registered with Play Therapy UK.
Andrew emphasises resilience and inner growth, with a non-judgmental approach, and has over 20 years of experience working in the health sector with experience of working in London, Singapore and Dubai with a multicultural client group as a Dubai Art Psychotherapist.
Andrew has worked with children and adults in the fields of Education, Mental Health, and Disabilities. His expertise ranges from child trauma and attachment difficulties, adolescent issues, anxiety, depression, family difficulties/divorce, couple, relationship therapy and adult stress /anger management. His existing caseload includes children, adults, families, couples (relationship and marriage therapy) and EAP referrals. As well as professionals in the aviation industry or with schedules with a lot of overseas travel. Andrew is also experienced at helping couples with relationship challenges. With the focus being on exploring how couples can work together to build on their relationship strengths and deepen bonds in his programmes as a Dubai Art Psychotherapist.
He is interested in cross-cultural factors, expatriate relocation, couple difficulties, relationship trauma and the how to help children affected by family separation and divorce. Andrew is currently undertaking research studies at the University of London with research projects in the Middle-East as a Dubai Art Psychotherapist
In the UK Andrew conducted workshops at the Tate Gallery London and has worked as a registered manager in health provider services for people with mental health difficulties and learning disabilities. He has worked in mental health hospitals with clients with depression, stress related difficulties and anxiety disorders. He has worked at a Therapeutic Community in the NHS, UK with a multi-disciplinary team of psychotherapists, group analysts and psychiatrists with clients with Borderline and Narcissistic Personality Disorders and PTSD.
Children and Adolescents with trauma, PTSD, attachment difficulties, anger management, anxiety/stress/self-harm/eating disorders, crisis intervention, bullying, depression, divorce related anger and anxiety, OCD, transition and relocation difficulties.
Adults: Addictions, anxiety, anger, depression and stress at work and mid-life crisis.
Families: Divorce and separation, family bonding, communication difficulties.
Couples: relationship/ marriage difficulties- communication, conflict resolution, intimacy and trust difficulties, marriage problems and divorce
Andrew’s clinical skills as a Dubai Art Psychotherapist are based on adult and child psychotherapy, art psychotherapy and counseling practices and draw on psycho-dynamic, Jungian, object-relations, resilience and solution focused approaches. As well as informed by cognitive-behavioural therapy, mindfulness techniques and group psychotherapy. Andrew also uses expressive arts therapies techniques such as art, play therapy with activity, and sand tray therapy.
