Dyad Art Therapy
These parent and/or sibling child therapy /adolescent therapy sessions are aimed at strengthening bonds and developing communication through creative expression.
ATIC’s approach through the arts therapies helps neurological pathways to be formed and strengthened which aids in bridging attachment, a foundation to a healthy and loving relationship.
Group Art Therapy
groups can provide children and adolescents with opportunities to build their social skills whilst exploring their senses and creativity. Enabling them to learn how to make friends and how to interact with others. The child/adolescent is taught to share ideas, materials, instruments, toys and space enhancing their communication skills.
The goal of the group is to encourage the child/adolescent to spontaneously share and socialize. Art, Music and Play is also an easy and non-threatening way to connect with peers where children and adolescents learn to cooperate with one another by making choices as a group. This can help to develop their identity as an individual, and their role within a group.
They can learn not to be swayed by peer pressure, to say no while learning skills of respect and diplomacy, developing new perspectives in understanding how each other feels. The effects of group child therapy can be seen at school and at home. Learning the above skills to prepare children and adolescents to develop leadership qualities, and to form and sustain appropriate relationships. A foundation to the success of future relationships and healthy attachments.
Child therapy sessions can be catered to school groups and community organizations.
Please note prior to beginning group therapy an initial consultation (chargeable as per standard rate) will be required in order for our therapists to establish your child’s/adolescent’s needs. In some cases individual sessions may be advised before joining the group in order for your child/adolescent to maximize the effects of group therapy.
