Group Art Therapy for Adults
ATIC has conducted a variety of groups for adults, such as: for newly relocated housewives, parents of children with special needs, learning difficulties and behavioural challenges, parents managing a child’s illness or when facing grief and loss, breast cancer support group, eating disorders, managing addiction, depression, anxiety, work-life stress, sexual abuse survivors, domestic violence survivors, and managing infertility are to name but a few.
Group art therapy allows the individual to communicate safely using the medium of art within a structured boundary. It reinforces that the person is not alone, singled out, or being punished by their problems. It is an empowering and powerful from of support. These groups foster a non-judgmental approach whereby a person can express themselves through a process of self-discovery, learn to creatively problem solve, and more importantly learn from one another with similar challenges.
ATIC’s groups typically meet on a weekly basis at the time allocated. Please note prior to beginning group therapy an initial consultation (chargeable as per standard rate) will be required in order for our therapists to establish your needs, in some cases individual sessions may be advised before joining the group in order for you to maximize the effects of group therapy. Groups are private, confidential and with limited availability.
